Dos Ojos — Cenote Snorkeling in Tulum

Dos Ojos is one of the best cenotes for beginner divers. The cavern zone has a maximum depth of around 8-10 meters, which means you have plenty of bottom time and the diving is very relaxed. The wide passages and excellent visibility make navigation easy, and natural light is visible throughout most of the cavern routes. It is often the first cenote we recommend for divers who are new to cavern diving.

Depending on the route, you will see massive stalactites and stalagmites, ancient column formations, halocline effects where fresh and salt water mix, and the famous Bat Cave air dome. The Barbie Line features the most decorated passages with incredible geological formations, while the Bat Cave route includes surfacing in a dark chamber with a live bat colony. Both routes have extraordinary visibility and light effects.

A typical dive at Dos Ojos lasts 45-60 minutes depending on your air consumption and which route you take. Because of the shallow depth, you get generous bottom time. We usually do two dives here — one on each route — so you get to experience both the Barbie Line and the Bat Cave in a single visit.
